1. When do you plan to travel with us? Even if it’s still rough because you don’t have your flight-tiquets or for another reason, it doesn’t matter, but just give us the start date and the end date and everything that’s good to know about it….
2. What do you like most when you are on vacation?
Take your time, to do things slowly, relax and breathe, even if it means possibly missing out on some experiences.
Alternate one day filled with activities, and one relaxing day and maybe leave room for improvisation…
Make the most out of your stay, and while there, see as many places and practise as many activities as possible. You don’t mind rushing and taking advantage of the amenities only from late afternoons (sauna, bar, swimming pool, pool table, games…)
3.What kind of food do you prefer?
Eating like locals – in Colombia, in any part of the country, the meal start with a soup with chunks, then a main course made of rice, salad, a fried starch (potatoes, manioc, or green or ripe plantains) and fried meat or fish (you can get it grilled).
Alternate between local meals and home food, in that case, please let us know your eating preferences in the bottom box
Eating exactly what you usually eat at home please let us know your eating preferences in the bottom box
You are vegan, vegetarian or gluten intolerant, please let us know everything about this in the bottom box
4. What kind of beverages do you prefer to accompany your meals :
In traditional Colombian meals, you’ll have the choice between fresh fruit juice (many exotic fruits are available) or a guandolo (a mix of water, sugar and lime juice) or mazamorra/claro (crushed corn with milk, neither sweet nor savoury)
Soda
Water
Beer
Wine
Juice
Other: please let us kno in the text field below
5. For breakfast, you would rather :
Eat like locals: Colombian breakfast is usually made of arepa (corn tortilla), scrambled eggs (with or without onions and tomatoes, you decide), a serving/piece of fresh cheese (lightly salted), but also some fried food (empanadas, buñuelos, carimañola, pastel, torta de carne), or an order of rice and red beans and also sometimes meat or fish, or even liver, and some fresh fruits
Eat mostly sweet: toasts, butter, jam and sometimes croissants, and fresh fruits
Alternate local and sweet
I don't eat breakfast
eat, what I usually eat (please advise in the box below)
6. What kind of beverages do you prefer to accompany your breakfast :
Coffee (curiously, Colombian coffee is very high quality but they serve it pretty light and always with sugar), we’ll make sure they make it strong with no sugar so you’ll be able to drink it according to your taste
Tea
Herbal tea
Coffee with milk
Milk
Fresh fruit juice
7.Colombia offers a wide variety of landscapes and climates: within a few hours, we can go from the cold mountains to the stuffy heat of plains or coasts. In general, what kind of climate would you prefer?
The warmth of the coasts or the plains (0 to 1000 metres high – 0 to 3 300 feet high), where you can skinny-dip even at night, but where the air is stuffy during the day, always over 30°C (86°F).
Spring-like weather such as in Medellin, at an altitude of 1 000 to 1 800 metres (3 300 to 6 000 feet), where it is a little chilly at night so you may not swim in the evening but where the temperature is rarely over 30°C (86°F)
The mountain climate – over 1 800m (6 000 feet) up until 3 200m (10 500 feet) – it is difficult to find accommodation but we can drive up to almost 5 000m ((16 500 feet), during sunny days, it is possible to swim (water is chilly, rarely over 20°C – 68°F) but at nights, don’t forget to bring a sweater
8. When it comes down to physical activity, what are your preferences?
You are very athletic, you don’t mind walking under the sun for 8 hours with 1 500m (5 000 feet) difference in height and admire wonderful landscapes, you would love to do it several times during your stay
Pretty lazy, you love to relax by the pool, the beach and the bar, you like to walk one hour a day, only if it is flat and shady
Neither of the above, I can outdo myself if it is worth it, but not every day
9. When it comes down to budget, we can meet any needs: from travelling on a shoestring to having a comfortable sum of money, to a group of friends eager to have a good time. We are asking you to answer the following 3 questions regarding activities and lodging. These are the 2 main factors that will determine the cost of your trip, (besides the price of the plane tickets, the length of the trip and the number of participants, make sure you compare prices), we would like to know the kind of budget you have for your trip:
I have a very tight budget, I want this trip to cost as little as possible, including the activities and the kind of lodging I chose, nothing extra
My budget is neither very tight, nor very high but I don’t want to waste money
I have a comfortable budget, options and anything extra that can make the stay more enjoyable is welcome, I can afford it

It is also possible to make high mountain treks such as climbing to the top of the Nevado Santa Isabel glacier (5000m) by roped up to the day or also over several days by starting from 2000m up to 4000m or more by sleeping in refuges. To get out of the ordinary and observe the jungle in the night version, we can make you walk a few hours in the night jungle to observe snakes, mygales or nocturnal mammals like tatoo or tapir. 40. For lodging, do you prefer:
Eco lodges, usually set close to rivers, away from town centres, owned and run by people who are nature lovers. Toilet is usually dry (sometimes, you have a choice between regular and dry toilet), and the food is made from organic products from the garden or from the neighbour’s garden. This is where you’ll be able to enjoy breakfast while watching a monkey or a toucan, and enjoy beautiful and natural sites while eating and sleeping.
Lodging called ‘fincas’, usually in the countryside, away from town centres, they are usually well equipped (swimming-pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, pool tables and other games) and enable customers to relax after a full day of visiting.
Regular hotels are often situated in town centres, close to bars, restaurants and discos. If you are in a colonial town, it is a good way to stay in old beautiful houses.
Youth hostels, on a shoestring, they are cheap and friendly, it can be a good way to meet other travellers. One can sleep in a dormitory but often, double rooms are available.
Alternate all these options depending on what is available and best suited to the place and the moment.
41. And in those lodgings, do you prefer:
A collective dormitory with shared bathroom, the most economic option, with little intimacy but opportunities to meet other people…
A dormitory for the group, everyone in the same dorm (couples can each sleep in single beds) without other travellers the group doesn’t know, the bathroom can be reserved for the group only, but can also be outside the dorm and shared with other travellers.
In double rooms with private bathroom for couples, and double, triple or quadruple rooms with separated beds and private bathrooms, this option is not necessarily fancy but enables to have a minimum of privacy.
All of the above formula with extra options such as jacuzzi, television, big screen, mini bar…
Alternate all those options depending on the availability, specify us in the bottom box how
42. Colombian people are usually very friendly, warm and sincere, and so far, they have been protected from mass tourism, because the country is only starting to open to tourism. Tourists who visited Colombia usually answer the question “What did you like most in Colombia?” by “The people”, especially when they speak basic Spanish. Speaking about the Spanish language, where do you stand?
I speak Spanish enough to understand and be understood, and more.
I speak English enough to understand and be understood, and more
I speak Spanish and English enough to understand and be understood, and more.
I speak neither English, nor Spanish but I am an expert in speaking with my hands.
43. We don’t know each other but we will accompany your group for your trip, or part of your trip. We will spend time together, how do you foresee this relationship?
Whenever possible, I would like to be accompanied as much as possible, especially for translation and information sharing
I would prefer to have some free time, when visiting villages for example, when hiking, I would prefer to have some quiet moments and I’d rather not share all the meals
A little bit of both, a useful presence but not too heavy
44. Colombia has mountain landscapes, with windy roads, not always very smooth (even though it is getting better, slowly but surely), we may also take boats (the sea is not always perfectly smooth) or even get to high altitude:
Someone in the group suffers from motion sickness
Someone in the group is afraid of boat rides
Someone in the group is subject to mountain sickness, it will be difficult to go higher than 3000m
45. One question in order to determine what kind of traveller you are:
You are an adventurer, a backpacker, you’ve been around the world and rarely need facilitators like us
You regularly travel abroad but often via organised tours
You are used to travelling with facilitators like us, going abroad in exclusive small groups, with guide and driver
You travel often but mostly in your home country, sometimes abroad via organised tours but never too far from your country
You rarely travel, even less abroad but you have been forced into this trip and you are pretty scared…
46. We love animals, we have two dogs and two parrots and Trigana’s jungle is full of wild animals. So our last question is regarding your relationship to pets and wild animals:
I don’t care about animals, whether they are pets or wild. Their presence doesn’t bother me, neither their absence.
I can’t stand animals, they scare me, write in the bottom box what especially
I really like animals but I am particularly afraid of : write in the bottom box what especially
I love animals, pets like wild species and I would really enjoy hiking several days in order to spot wild animals in their natural habitat, write in the bottom box what especially
Anything else we should know about you, your trip etc.
